For the past several days, my Elan Financial account is required Multi-Factor ID before it will download transactions. This is new. How do we fix this so it does not ask for this each time we download?

    Hello @Regina@,

    We appreciate you reaching out regarding this issue.

    Upon reviewing your account, I can see that you are receiving an FDP-185 MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) error internally. To address this error, please review and follow the guidance outlined in this support article.

    However, if the steps in the article don’t resolve the issue, please note that Multi-Factor Authentication and the frequency with which you’re prompted are determined by your financial institution—Elan Financial in this case—as part of their security protocols. Quicken is required to follow the security rules set by the bank and cannot disable or alter the MFA prompts.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you for your guidance. I am still having this issue. I don't believe anything changed on Elan's website. If it did, they did not announce any changes.

    @Regina@ Thank you for the update, and I understand how frustrating it can be when something that used to work seamlessly suddenly changes.

    While it’s true that financial institutions don’t always publicly announce updates to their security protocols, it’s still possible that a change occurred on Elan’s end behind the scenes—such as a modification in how MFA tokens are handled or how third-party apps (like Quicken) are allowed to connect.

    Unfortunately, even if nothing appears different on the website itself, these background updates can still trigger more frequent MFA prompts through Quicken. As mentioned earlier, Quicken is required to comply with the security parameters set by each financial institution, and we don't have the ability to bypass or adjust how often MFA is required.

    That said, if you’re still being prompted every time you download—even after following the steps in the support article—it may be helpful to reach out to Elan Financial directly to confirm whether they’ve recently updated their MFA policies or settings for third-party access. When doing so, we also recommend requesting to speak with higher-level support such as a supervisor or Tier 2 as they tend to be more familiar with 3rd-party applications such a Quicken.

    Thank you!

    @Regina @ ,

    May I assume that your Elan Financial credit card is through Fidelity? If so, I think I just discovered something based on your post; my same experience; and another post I stumbled upon. If not, maybe this will help you in other ways or help others that do have their Visa CC through Fidelity.

    When I initially setup my Fidelity within Quicken, I chose "Fidelity Investments-DC." It worked, so I thought all was good. Later, I signed up for the Fidelity Rewards Visa. I set it up within Quicken with an Elan Financial account because I found others with a similar issue. Fast forward to having to enter MFA every day (seems if I update in short succession, I don't have to re-enter MFA).

    Yesterday, I disconnected all my Fidelity accounts (including Visa) within Quicken from Online Access. Make sure you also delete "Financial Institution" and "Account Number" on "General" Tab. Then, go back and Setup "Online Services" to any of your Fidelity accounts. Choose "Fidelity Investments" as your Financial Institution (you may have to scroll, as it is not a suggestion at the top when you just Search for Fidelity.) It will re-direct you to a Fidelity browser sign-in page and an agreement to agree to. It will then allow you to select ALL of your Fidelity accounts (including Rewards Visa) to then re-direct back to Quicken and allow you to "Link to Existing…" accordingly.

    This morning, all accounts updated without 2FA prompt.

    unfortunately this does not work as it only allows simple tracking when using the Fidelity Investments selection
