How to track 'Interest Rate Linked Structured Investments'?

I have a structured investment in my portfolio. In summary, it works as follows: If the linked index drops more than 30% (relative to the date I purchased the investment) then I don't get interest (fixed percentage of invested amount). If the linked index is above the -30% mark then I get interest (paid every 3 months). Irrespective of the index I get my principal (=invested amount) back on the maturity date.

I have this structured investment in a Charles Schwab brokerage account. When I download transactions then the marked value of this structured investment follows the index. Obviously, my net worth report is incorrect if the index is up or down.

How should I go about tracking this kind of investment in Quicken a) so I still can see the value of the index and b) so my net worth report is correct?

I'm not aware of any function in Q that can follow this type of investment.

SO, I'd be inclined to just live with what Chuck downloads until maturity.

OR, you can make manual adjustments to what Chuck downloads.

@t34hansen - I am not very familiar with "Interest Rate Linked Structured Investments" but here is some information I could find about how to possibly set it up in Quicken.

    1. Set Up a Manual Investment Account
    • Create a new investment account in Quicken.
    • Add the structured investment as a security manually.
    • 2. Track Interest Payments
    • If the investment pays interest periodically (e.g., every 3 months), record these as income transactions.
    • Ensure the interest payments reflect the conditions of the investment (e.g., whether the index is above or below a threshold).
    • 3. Monitor Market Value
    • Since the investment’s value follows an index, update its market value manually based on the latest index performance.
    • This ensures your Net Worth Report remains accurate.
    • 4. Record Principal Return
    • At maturity, record the return of the principal amount as a transaction.

@CaliQkn, I should probably have written that I'm trying to automate the process but thanks for your response anyways. I gather that QMac cannot do this for me.

@t34hansen got it. Sorry I couldn't help with that, but hopefully a Quicken Mac user will have some insights on how to automate the process.
