I have had Quicken since the Neanderthals ruled the earth (1990s). I currently have Quicken 2017 Home & Business on my 2019 Lenovo laptop. I only use it on my laptop — never on my smartphone. I never automatically download — I do it all manually. Unfortunately due to my location I am unable to access the internet for 4-6 months a year. I bought a new laptop and need to transfer my Quicken over to it. If I opt for one of the new subscription models, how will that work when I am without internet access 45-60 days at a time? Is there a way to transfer my Quicken 2017 H&B to my new laptop? Thank you!

@Suntanned Yes. Quicken's data file format is backwards compatible to at least Quicken 2016, meaning a file created in Quicken 2017 should open in the current subscription version. When upgrading, your data will migrate from your older version to the newer one.

    1. Backup Your Data – Before opening your Quicken 2017 file in the subscription version, create a backup just in case.
    2. Install the Latest Version – Download and install the current Quicken subscription version.
    3. Open Your Old Data File – The new Quicken will automatically convert your Quicken 2017 data file to the latest format.
    4. Verify Your Data – Check that all transactions and accounts have transferred correctly.
    5. Reconnect Online Accounts – If you use online banking, you may need to reauthorize your financial institutions.

You can use Quicken offline without internet access without issue, but of course it will not be able to download transaction files from your financial institutions. You might get the Quicken ID sign on screen asking you to sign in, but you can hit "Esc" or the red X in the left upper corner of the window a few times to get around the sign on screen. Once you do get internet access, you will need to actually sign on with your Quicken ID the first time you access Quicken.
