How to reduce the size of my Quicken Data File vs WIN 2017 Deluxe?

I am  using Quicken for Windows vs 2017 Deluxe.

I have 10 years of transactions with many bank accounts, credit cards, etc. It takes more and more time to open the file. Size of data file is 8.89 MB. I have tried year end files - they really don't change the file data???

FYI: My file size is 179 MB and loads within 5 seconds from my OneDrive.

The "year end" process will create a copy of your data file and remove any Reconciled transactions that AREN'T investment transactions.

You then need to open the file that has been processed … and not your prior data file.

BUT, another thing, besides size, that can impact performance is data corruption.  SO, have you tried taking a backup and then Validating your data file?

Also, do  you store statements/receipts or other documents within your data file?  That greatly increases file size also.

Lastly, just to see if there are any other ideas, Please hold down the CTRL key and click HELP, About Quicken and paste the resulting info dialog.  Blur out your userID in the dialog before you post that.

Edit: I should have read your post more slowly. I glossed over your start-up issue. So how long does it take to load the data file? Your file size is not really that large, size is not the issue. When was the last time you ran a validate of your data file?

Unless you are still using floppy disks, why is this a concern? 🤔 I just checked my file size and it is 182 MB and loads within a few seconds on my PC.
