My Quicken for Mac is running slow and reading on the Quicken Community posts, it has been stated that moving Quicken files from iCloud would speed up Quicken. Does this work?

I don't know about speed, but you shouldn't run Q from the cloud because the connection isn't sufficiently reliable … and any hiccup during that transmission could corrupt your data.

When you're running Q, just Save the file to your harddrive.

You absolutely should move your Quicken data file off of iCloud. Storing your files on any cloud services (iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc) can lead to file corruption & data loss.

You can simply move the file using Finder. Your iCloud Drive should be in the Finder sidebar, if it isn't you can turn that on in the Finder settings.

If you plan on moving your file to the Desktop or Document folders you will want to ensure that those are not being synced to iCloud. You can check that by going to System Settings > iCloud and in the "Saved to iCloud" section click the See All button. Click on "iCloud Drive" and check the "Desktop and Documents Folders" option - if it is turned on then those folders are not a good home for your Quicken data files.

I agree with all of the above. Also, another reason QMac can run slow is that there are multiple windows open being the main window (such as reports). You don't see them because they are hidden behind the main window and they reopen each time you launch QMac. Try closing all windows one at a time, then reopen the main window.

That said, you should definitely still move your file out of iCloud Drive regardless of the reason for the slowness to avoid file corruption.
