Schwab transactions not downloading since beginning May

Is there something going on with Schwab transactions download? I have not received any downloaded transactions since end of last month. Tried resetting connections to Schwab multiple times, and reset cloud. I don't see any error messages, have to manually enter which is a bummer.

You might need to update the permission to download to Quicken at Schwab's web site. I've had particular Schwab Accounts stop downloading, silently, only to find out that the EWC+ "token" needs to be re-authorized. Why that happens, I don't know.

If I'm remembering correctly, you need to disconnect the Accounts from downloading all together. The do an Add Account, specify Schawb, and then type in your user name and password. Quicken will find all Accounts at Schwab using the user name and password, and you LINK the Schwab accounts to the Quicken Accounts.

I did try disconnecting the accounts on the Schwab website and re-adding the Schwab links in Quicken. All my other bank acct/credit card downloads are working, still not working for Schwab.

So you went to the Schwab site and unchecked every account under the "Linked Apps and Websites" page?

I wouldn't think that's really necessary, but I don't think it would necessarily make the re-connection not work.

You say you tried "re-adding the Schwab links in Quicken", which could be interpreted to mean that you went to each Account's "Online Services" tab and clicked on "Setup Now" as opposed to clicking Tools > Add Account and working through that process.

  • Dey
Dey Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭

Yes, I went to Schwab and unchecked every account under "Linked apps & Websites".

Then deactivated the accounts and "online services" and did "Setup Now" and initially did download a couple transactions for the Checking Acct but still nothing on the Schwab One brokerage.

I repeated again - whole process "Linked apps & Websites" , deactivated accounts, online services and did setup now and still no downloads from Schwab One. And noticed my Patelco account didn't download today's transaction, or is this another issue. I do recall in past, this problem with Schwab downloads and somehow got fixed. Should I contact Schwab? Thanks for your help.

Well you more or less did exactly what you did before, with the same results, but that's not what I advised you to do.

Deactivate all the Schwab Accounts. I wouldn't bother unchecking the downloading over at Schwab.

Now do Accounts > Add Accounts and specify "Schwab" as the FI. You'll go through the authorization process again (everything should be checked), agree to Schwab's term, see the account list is correct presented is correct and then you will go back to Quicken where Quicken has found all those accounts and presents them to you, with options to Add these Accounts to Quicken or LINK them to existing Quicken Schwab Accounts. You link them, properly,

I'm kind of writing this out by memory but the big change from what you've been doing is starting with the Add Account process.

I deactivated my 8 schwab accts - one wouldn't deactivate saying there was an uncleared transaction. I cleared the Schwab download settings just in case.

Then using Add Account as you suggested, specified Schwab and logged in and checked off my 8 Schwab Accts then went back to Quicken to relink my existing accounts, not all 8 accts showed up to relink 1st time 6 accts and 2nd time 4 accts appeared. Then the link and download happened and nothing got downloaded. I probably did this 3-5 times, even tried rebooting my computer, validate data file and restarting Quicken. Does Schwab lock you out if you do this too many times? I know this was working until late last month.

I’m not able to download Schwab and other accounts. I’ve been resetting accounts one by one and wondering why I put up with this. It was bad before Quicken went to an annual subscription model and now it’s frustrating that I’m continuing to pay for the privilege of trouble shooting this service. And there never seems to be an easy or consistent way to get support.

  • Dey

Agree, we shouldn't have to be resetting accounts all the time. Downloads is one of the main reasons for subscribing to Quicken annual. Is this a Schwab or Quicken issue?

    @Dey

Did you happen to try downloading after you managed the first time to LINK the 6 Accounts, or did you simply start over without attempting a download? Should all 8 of these Accounts actually associated with the user name and password you entered? I'm asking because I too have 8 Schwab accounts, but some of them are my wife's accounts that require her user name and password.

At this point I think it's time to call Official Quicken Support at some time when you can spend an hour or two sitting at the keyboard, allow screen sharing so the rep can actually see your screen, and try to figure out what's going on.

I don't think it's a more or less "universal" problem with Schwab as if it was this place would be blowing up with complaints. I've had some similar problems to yours with my 8 Schwab accounts, they are working fine at the moment and have been for some time.

Schwab transactions on several (not all accounts) have stopped downloading since May 1st. I have deactivated and reactivated the ones not working, i have deactivates and reactivated all accounts, I have confirmed what accounts Quicken has access to on the Schwab site, I have made certain the automatic transaction entry in the Online setup is "No - Never automatically add transactions for this account", after these procedures i have shutdown and reopened Quicken and also tried rebooting the machine.

I have the same problem. Does not affect non-taxable accounts but unable to down load to our investment accounts. Followed steps in chain but still no luck.

I checked the user name and a couple accounts were associated with my wife's login. I did her accounts separately using her Schwab Login and the other accts are ones that I access with my Schwab login. Then I deleted all the permissions on Schwab app security and retried Add Accounts, showed transactions being downloaded for my wife's accts. But when I did mine, did the relink - strange sometimes able to relink, other times the accts are grayed out and cannot add/link. Anyhow after several tries, still not able to download any transactions, even though I see downloads occurring for x number days. I never get any error messages, looks like downloads are happening but nothing happens. I just think it strange it was working last month and some other folks mentioned similar problems.

I was checking online center and noticed my 5 Schwab Accounts are showing N/A in online balances, no transactions appear, the balances appear correct, and the holdings appear to match the Schwab holdings online. It seems to me, the link is not working properly, shouldn't the online balances appear?

  • Tom Young
Tom Young Quicken Windows Subscription SuperUser ✭✭✭✭✭

    @Dey

The only online balances you should see in the Online Center are for checking and savings Accounts. You will see N/A for investment Accounts.

"the balances appear correct, and the holdings appear to match the Schwab holdings online"

If this statement pertains to all your Schwab Accounts - that's hard to discern from what you've posted - then it would seem that things are working properly. But if it only pertains to your wife's Accounts and you still can't get connected to Schwab for your Accounts then I still think your best bet is to get in touch with Quiken support.

I have the same problem - no transaction downloads from Schwab investment. I've deactivated all accounts and attempted to reactivate them with no success. I even had a Quicken tech attempt to help to no avail.

I'm having the same problem. Did all the same things mentioned here. My Schwab checking acct is updating properly. Our joint investment account and my husband's IRA are updating properly. Only my IRA has not downloaded a transaction since 4/30. I deactivated and reactivated it. I deactivated all our Schwab accounts and reactivated all of them. Only my IRA is still not working. I hate to print my May 31 statement and enter the May transactions manually, but that's what I'll do. And hope that Schwab or Quicken resolve this problem before June 30!

Tom, thanks for clarifying online balances not showing. I haven't had any downloaded transactions since end of April to any of my Schwab brokerage accounts, strange that when compare balances and holdings in online center they match.

My Schwab Checking does not show an online balance and shows N/A in online center, this one have also reset/readded many times along with the brokerage accounts. I separated my wife's accounts from mine in the setup using separate Schwab logins and we both haven't received downloaded transactions.

Hmm, sounds like there are at least 5 of us that have the same problem. I called Schwab, they said on their side the connection is working and that I am first to report problem. On to Quicken next.

Called Quicken, talked to Felix, there is a known problem in the connection between Schwab & Quicken with transactions not being downloaded since last month. They are working on getting it resolved, if you want status or put some priority into it, ticket#11771855 (internal)

Yes, same thing here. Man, quicken has really suffered a lot the past 2 months. I am truly wondering why I even bother to subscribe anymore with the constant issues. At least I know it's not just me that's suffering.

Thank you for providing the ticket and that it's a known issue. Sorry you had to waste your time on the phone with Quicken support.

Today I have had to reset BA Visa, Citibank, Discover online access to get transactions to download. Is there a widespread need to reset accts?

Called to followup, apparently the Schwab problem is with Schwab Equity Award Accounts — which I presume means Schwab One brokerage and IRAs and Roths. Talking to Quicken, apparently they don't know if there is an issue unless someone calls. And Schwab doesn't know either, unless you call them.

I have same problem with not able to download transactions from some of my Fidelity accounts. This has been going on for many months. Getting to the point that if Quicken cannot resolve these problems time to switch to a different software. Anyone have any suggestions for an alternative?

I don't believe that's correct. These accounts are used in stock compensation situations. They deal with assets related to employee stock awards like restricted stock or stock options. They have come up frequently in here as being "problematic" but I wouldn't automatically extend the problems with those accounts to more generalized brokerage, IRAs and Roths.

I've had the same problem since May. Did everything noted above with no improvement. Downloads our checking account, my IRA (but my husband's is fine), and our joint account. If we search on ticket # 11771855 will that help? Is someone from Quicken monitoring this community issue? I also found a post from Quicken Anya and followed those instructions. They may have worked for some but didn't work for me.

I am missing all transaction in my Schwab brokerage accounts (includes an IRA account) since late April. My Schwab Bank account is updating OK.

Could this be related to the recent change of Quicken using Intuit for Schwab downloads?

  • Tom Young
Tom Young Quicken Windows Subscription SuperUser ✭✭✭✭✭

"Could this be related to the recent change of Quicken using Intuit for Schwab downloads?"

No. Quicken has used Intuit as the aggregator for may years and Schwab transitioned from Direct Connect to Express Web Connect+ - the process that requires an "aggregator" - probably about 4 years ago.

I'd suggest that you make a backup, disconnect ALL Schwab Accounts from downloading, then do Tools > Add Account, specifying Shwab as the Finanancial Institution. Work through the process - which includes allowing Schwab to share information - and at some point Quicken will present to you all the accounts at Schwab it has found and invite you to either ADD or LINK these account. You want to LINK the correct accounts at Schwab to the correct Accounts in Quicken.

Hopefully this will get you connected.

I still have problem downloading Schwab transactions, even though I have disconnected all Schwab Accounts from downloading and then did Add Account, select Schwab, authorize Schwab for my accounts, and link my Schwab Accounts. Probably did this at least dozen times, and same result no downloads from Schwab brokerage and IRA accounts since end of April. The only thing working is downloads to my Schwab Investor Checking.

Same problem here with multiple quicken accounts. One of my accounts now shows 3 different Charles Schwab connections @ online center for the 5 or 6 different Schwab accounts. I've disconnected and reset several times. The clue I have is that the last Q account I worked with no longer had any active Schwab bank related accounts, ALL of those accounts no longer were connected BUT the Update function tried to connect to Schwab bank. Please update ticket#11771855 with this info.
