Pending Amazon Prime purchases are showing up as negative payments

    Sounds to me more like someone messed up the column title.
    IMHO, depending on account type it should say "Charge" instead for a credit card account. "Payments" would be correct for checking accounts. See the actual register's column titles.

    The amount showing as negative for a charge, debit or checking account payment/withdrawal is correct.
