Issue opening Qwin

I've been having this problem for the last few days. every time I turn on Qwin, it says this

image.png image.png

after I use "Open a data file located on this computer" and select the main file on my drive, it will load. but next time I close and reopen it happens all over again.

what I tried was after successfully reopening the file, I saved a local backup. Open the backup, and the backup file created a main file.

the next few times I open Qwin it worked fine. but it's just again prompted me that Qwin can't open my data file…

I've never encounter this before…. I've been tinkering with Qwin a lot lately and the more I use it, the more random things will happen. for example, right before the most recent "can't open my data file" happen, I was looking at one of my brokerage account, and for the first time ever, the transactions were no longer correct. thats' why I closed Qwin and see if I can load an older update to fix it, but it then told me can't open date file….. it seems the software is very unstable?

@Adience if you click on File→Show this file on my computer, what path and location does it take you to?

Check your filename length. Quicken can get picky about it if it is longer than eight characters, 12345678.QDF.
Also check that there is not a space at the end before the period.
Rename it in Windows Explorer with Quicken closed. Once renamed, double click on the file to start Quicken with that file, after that, it should find it on its own.
NOTE: The old file name will still be in the Recent File list (File menu), but for more recent versions of Quicken, if you select it, Quicken will tell you it can't find it and offer to remove it from the Recent File list.

it takes me to where I have designated my Quicken main folder is, which is on my iCloud drive and my main file "my name Quicken. QDF".

I just woke up, did the software update, for no reason, most of my accounts links were broken… trying to reconnect to all of them again .. haven't encountered that "cannot open file" message again yet after reopening a couple times (thank god)

now just linked my Chase accounts and notice that for no reason, in one of my IRA accounts, one security has a duplicate "buy" from February added. Everything was fine with this account up to the day before….

why does Quicken has so many issues lately..I am afraid to just sync my accounts….

does it have to do with Quicken switching eBill supplier? since I have credit card biller linked to most these accounts? I had a hard time with my AMEX ebill showing up correctly lately in the Bills & Income tab.

@Adience Quicken does not recommend storing or opening your Quicken Data File directly from a cloud drive. Doing so can lead to data corruption or syncing issues because Quicken files are frequently updated while being used.

Instead, Quicken suggests keeping your data file on your local drive and using cloud storage only for backups. You can manually back up your file to a cloud drive to ensure safety, but always work from the local copy.

no longer than 8 characters? what kind of ancient restriction is that? I've been using Quicken since 2022, and the name has always been "My Name Quicken.QDF" (which is def longer than 8 char) without any issue. and with all these issues I am having, I haven't touched the file name at all.

I understood iCloud does keep a local version of the file you use frequently. does that not work? again, all my issues appear in the last couple days.. never was a problem before.

so I should use Quicken's paid online backup?

@Adience there may be a setting for iCloud that keeps a copy on your computer, but again, it is not recommended that you open your Quicken data file directly from iCloud. You can use iCloud to backup or mirror your Quicken files, but you should always open your Quicken data file from a local drive.
