I’m a Quicken user since 1992 and use it daily. A few days ago when I updated my checking account it would not auto-reconcile, which is very unusual. I realized that when I would “uncheck” 3 recent transactions (not the end of the register, but recently downloaded) amounting to $2500.00, $22.45, and $25.00, the account would reconcile but these 3 transactions totaling $2547.45 needed to be cleared. After searching for several hours I discovered that my opening transaction and balance from 12/31/1991 had gotten corrupted and changed from $0.00 to $2547.45; -the sum of the 3 recently downloaded transactions! After I edited that 35 year old transaction back to $0.00 all appears to be well. I’m baffled as how this could happen. Apparently when updating the account something told the system to corrupt that transaction.
