Quicken 2010 - Newly created manual account issue

Very long time Quicken user but first time I've felt compelled to seek help in this useful forum.
I started with Quicken 99 and then migrated my Q99 files to Q2010, currently on Windows 10. I only use Quicken to track investment transactions and pricing. Everything is done manually and I do not connect to Quicken servers or brokerage firms for any Quicken reason.
My current investment accounts all transferred directly over from Q99 with no issues. From the Q2010 Portfolio screen, when I hover over an old account name and select Edit, I go directly to that account's investment register.
However, I recently had the need to create a new investment account. I went through the Q2010 steps and despite several tries I cannot seem to get to an investment register for this new account. When I hover over the new account on the Portfolio screen and select Edit, I always go to a different screen with five smaller "boxes" (Holdings, Account Attributes, Account Status, Investing Activity, and Account Attachments). For the life of me I can't find a way to get to the new account investment register.
Any ideas?
I can get around this problem by putting the new mutual funds into one of the existing accounts, but that really isn't the way I'd like to account for things.
Thanks!

@HerbertBear if you are really using Quicken 2010, I am not sure this feature was available but here is what to check -
Open the new investment account and then open Account Details (Ctrl-Shift-E). On the General tab, you should see some "Tracking Method" options on the bottom left. To get the investment register to show, the tracking method should be set to "Complete". Click "OK" and the investment register should appear.

Thanks CaliQkn, but in my Q2010, the new Account Details screen does not include Tracking Method choices.

@HerbertBear since you are using an older version of Quicken, when you set up the investment account, you might get asked during the setup how you will be using the account. At that point, you might be able to choose the Complete Tracking method.

Quicken didn't have Simple investing mode until just a few years ago.
As far as I remember you always just left clicked on the account name in in the account bar to open the account. For sure currently if you right click on the account name and select you will get the Account Details not the account register, and from the description you gave that sounds like the old Account Details dialog.
Also, remember the Transactions and Holdings were both displayed in the same window, unlike now, where clicking on the Holdings tab pops up in a separate window.
At any rate, if you provide a screenshot, then it might become clear of what isn't right.

@Chris_QPW thank you for this clarification. Quicken 2010 was the first version of Quicken I used since converting from MS Money, so I probably have forgotten a lot of it. I do remember though that when setting up an investment account, there were some questions about how you going to use the account. But you are right, Simple Tracking is a relatively recent "enhancement".
@HerbertBear as Chris mentioned, if you could provide a screen shot would be great. It would help us better understand what you are seeing, and the issue of not being able to see your account register.

Thanks so much for the replies. I finally figured it out by rooting around more but the answer is anything but intuitive.
Under Quicken Preferences, I had disabled Pop-Up Registers. When the new investment account was created, the only screen that I could get for the new account was the "five block overview" screen that I mentioned in my original question (Holdings, Account Attributes, Account Status, Investing Activity, and Account Attachments). NOWHERE to click to go to the investment register, hence my frustration.
After enabling Pop-Up Registers, the "five block overview" screen for the new account now includes an option along the top to go to Transactions. Clicking on this button sets the default path for going straight to the investment register every time. Hallelujah!
Going back to disabling Pop-Up Registers gets me back to where I want to be and everything is copacetic.

@HerbertBear wow, you're right, that wasn't intuitive, but glad you figured it out. It is interesting that enabling pop-up registers flushed out the account register permanently.
