How to add prior auto loan payment to my new Auto Loan

I just today (7/9) created a new auto loan account in quicken Premier Win10 but I made a first payment on 6/23.

How do I get this first payment properly registered in the new loan?

go to your checking account register (or wherever the payments were made from) and find the transaction for the prior payment.

In the Category field, do a transfer to [Loan Account Name]. This links the payment to the loan.

Then, Split the Transaction and allocate the amounts accordingly:

Principal → Transfer to Loan Account

Interest → Use a category like “Loan Interest”

After entering the payment, check the loan account to ensure the balance reflects the reduction.
