How to add prior auto loan payment to my new Auto Loan

I just today (7/9) created a new auto loan account in quicken Premier Win10 but I made a first payment on 6/23.

How do I get this first payment properly registered in the new loan?

    • go to your checking account register (or wherever the payments were made from) and find the transaction for the prior payment.
    • In the Category field, do a transfer to [Loan Account Name]. This links the payment to the loan.
    • Then, Split the Transaction and allocate the amounts accordingly:
    • Principal → Transfer to Loan Account
    • Interest → Use a category like “Loan Interest”
    • After entering the payment, check the loan account to ensure the balance reflects the reduction.
