Transaction Automatic Categorization with partially variable Payee description

For transactions with the same beginning section, and different ending sections, set up a categorization rule based on matching the beginning section. This should execute during the download, and should be able to be applied once the download is completed (in case some transactions get missed).

For example, say I have transactions "Amazon Order 625", "Amazon Order 1233", and "Amazon Book 17". The rule should state "If name begins with 'Amazon Order', then Category = Office Supplies", and "If name begins with 'Amazon Book', then Category = Classes & Books … yet the full Payee name remains with each transaction. My records need the full Payee description in order to support a business audit.

The current method, Renaming Rules/Memorize Payees, don't work because they don't allow the transaction name to keep the uniqueness of the ending. The current Renaming Rules force each transaction to be renamed the same, ie, "Amazon Office Supplies". This is especially useful for Income downloads, where the Payee name section is the same, but the ending changes because it includes a transaction ID.

    Good idea.
