I have been running Quicken 2000 on an XP for years and love that version. My 3rd XP died and having problems finding another. Any suggestions?

Comments

  • @dyrrab IMHO, if you love Quicken 2000, I think you would love the current subscription of Quicken Windows Classic, even better. I would check it out or even check out Quicken Simplifi.

Why not support Quicken with a subscription? Doing so will benefit yourself and everyone.

As for still using Windows XP, it is your choice, but in my opinion it is unwise to do so. It puts you and your data at risk.

    • No official support: Microsoft ended all support in 2014, meaning no security patches or updates.
    • Vulnerable to malware: XP is exposed to thousands of known exploits, especially if connected to the internet.
    • Incompatible with modern software: Most browsers, antivirus tools, and apps no longer support XP.

You are right about the support but I just need it for personal bookkeeping.

If I were to go to a newer version, how would I convert the data. I keep getting mixed guidances.

    Thanks,

  • @dyrrab to convert your Quicken 2000 data to the current version of Quicken Classic, you'll need to go through a multi-step process using intermediate versions.

    Step-by-Step Conversion Path (from Copilot)

Step 1: Convert from Quicken 2000 to Quicken 2004

    • Download and install Quicken 2004 for Windows.
    • Open your Quicken 2000 data file in Quicken 2004.
    • Quicken 2004 will convert the file to its format.
    • Back up the converted file before proceeding.

Step 2: Convert from Quicken 2004 to Quicken 2013

    • Download and install Quicken 2013 Deluxe (available free from Quicken’s support site).
    • Open the Quicken 2004 file in Quicken 2013.
    • Quicken 2013 will update the file again.
    • Back up this version too.

Step 3: Install the Current Version of Quicken

    • Install the latest Quicken for Windows.
    • Open the Quicken 2013 file.
    • The current version will finalize the conversion and update the file to the latest format.

    Important Notes

  • @dyrrab I just saw that @Chris_QPW posted the Quicken Support article on converting from older version of Quicken. I just wanted to say to make sure to read that article. That article has more details on the process.
