Calendar View still freezes
This a follow up to a prior discussion /question I asked in April 2025.
The issue is when I click on a transaction within the calendar veiw in order to edit or skip it, the circle spins and it never resolves. I cannot close the Calendar view ior click on any other transactions and I'm forced to end task on Quicken in order to reopen it.
I was told how to run a validate and repair and also did a super validfate and repair. The problem seemed to be fixed . However, it came back again. I found I had to rerun the Validate and repair before being able to use the calendar view. The Validate and repair always gave the same report that two scheduled transactions were removed. However, it never specifies which two scheduled transactions. Then I'm able to view/edit transactions inthe Calendar view for one session with no freeze up. However, the next time, the problem is back. I don't know what else to do about this. Any tips/advice would be appreciated.

Hello @Bill Neilan,
Thanks for the detailed follow-up—it’s helpful to know that Validate and Super Validate temporarily resolve the issue, but only for a single session. Since the problem keeps coming back, here are a few questions that might help narrow things down:
- Do you notice if the same scheduled transactions are always present just before the freeze happens again? For example, are any of them transfers, paychecks, reminders with splits, or linked to online billers?
- Are any of your scheduled transactions set to auto-enter? If so, do you know if those auto-entered items are appearing correctly in the register or if they’re duplicating or missing?
- Have you recently deleted or heavily edited any scheduled transactions that may still appear in the calendar?
- Is this happening across all accounts in the Calendar view, or only when certain accounts are included/visible? You could try toggling which accounts are selected in the Calendar settings to test.
- Do you use cloud sync (Quicken Mobile/Web)? If so, could you try disabling sync temporarily to see if it has any effect?
- What happens if you create a brand new scheduled transaction (simple test one) and view it in the calendar—does clicking that also cause a freeze, or does the issue only happen with existing ones?
I look forward to your response!

- Do you notice if the same scheduled transactions are always present just before the freeze happens again? Oddly, when I go to TOOLs, Manage Bills, I have transaction reminders I’ve created years ago. The “Monthly Bills & Deposits” and “All Bills & Deposits” show the same reminders. The “Scheduled” and “Repeating Online “are blank.
- Are any of your scheduled transactions set to auto-enter? No. I managed them all manually. I do download from the bank.
- Have you recently deleted or heavily edited any scheduled transactions that may still appear in the calendar? No, I haven’t touched any
- Is this happening across all accounts in the Calendar view, or only when certain accounts are included/visible? I only manage one account in the Calender View
- Do you use cloud sync (Quicken Mobile/Web)? I do download from my different credit cards companies and bank
- What happens if you create a brand new scheduled transaction (simple test one) and view it in the calendar—does clicking that also cause a freeze, or does the issue only happen with existing ones?I created a new one—then tried saving it then editing it. When I clicked on it in Calendar view---program froze again

Hello @Bill Neilan,
Thanks for providing more information.
Based upon the situation and what you have described, I believe that this may be a file-specific issue. I invite you to review the instructions below. It is recommended to save a backup before proceeding.
Validate:
- File
- Validate and Repair File...
- Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
If the issue persists, proceed to Super Validate. If the issue is resolved after performing validation, then please disregard the instructions to Super Validate.
Super Validate:
- File
- Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
- Super Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
Let me know how it goes!

Hello,
The steps you gave me are the exact same steps which were suggested in April when I first brought up the topic. I also relayed this on my 8/7/25 follow up. Nevertheless, I repeated the steps as you gave them. It still reports the same thing—2 damaged scheduled transactions found and removed ( althought I doesn't tell me which ones and I also don't believe it removes it at all). Afterwards, I didn't even get through one session with the calendar view. It froze which forced me to end task on Quicken in order to reopen it. Not resolved.

Hello @Bill Neilan,
Thanks for responding and attempting those steps again.
I do apologize for the frustration with this issue; however, there are certain processes that we must follow just to ensure no avenues are left unturned in the event that we need to escalate this issue.
Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Quicken? Please refer to the following support articles for instructions on uninstalling here and reinstalling here.
