EWC+ Update from Merrill Lynch Over the Past 3 Days, Error CC-505? [Edited]

Anyone else getting the CC-505 Error from EWC+ Updating from Merrill Lynch? This has been occurring at least since Saturday, Sunday and now Monday 8/25/25.

    Hello @Dan13,

    Thank you for letting us know you're seeing this issue. To help troubleshoot, I checked our internal tools for more insight into the error. It shows you were getting the error because the FI website was unavailable. Since this is usually a temporary issue, please try waiting 24 hours, then try updating your account(s) again.

    If the issue persists, then per our article on CC-505 errors, please follow these steps: Try refreshing your online account information:

    1. From your account register, select the Actions gear icon at the very top right of your register (Ctrl + Shift + N).

    2. Select Update Now.

    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

    4. Repeat these steps for each financial institution experiencing this error.​

    It's Tuesday, 24hrs after previous post, the Update Error CC-505 still persists. I tried the instructions provided and still getting the error on my Investment Accounts from Merrill Lynch.

    In calling Quicken Support today, we Disconnected my Accounts and Reconnected. The Error CC-505 still persists. Now I have to wait 48 hours!

    I can see that you contacted Support a few times today. I can see that they walked you through connecting via Direct Connect, and they you reached back out for help switching to Express Web Connect+ again.

    Was the connection via Direct Connect not working? Were you seeing any error messages/codes when using Direct Connect?

    Yes, I got the Accounts, switched back to EWC+ again, per my previous post on 8/26. Support referred to this as a reset. Unfortunately, I immediately received the CC-505 Error again, afterwards. I was told to wait 48hrs before calling support back.

    Today's 8/27 Update: In updating Quicken, I "did not" receive the CC-505 Error today, Yay! Unfortunately, the EWC+ connection is "not providing" any transactions and its "not providing" any price updates. In looking at my investment account registers, the last transactions and pricing updates occurred on 8/21.

    When you get the CC-505 error in Quicken, are you able to login to your account directly through Merrill Lynch, or is the website down?

    To troubleshoot the transactions not downloading on the 27th, if you haven't already done so, please follow these steps from this article on missing transactions:

    1. Has the sort order been changed in the register? Confirm that the Sort Order in your account register is by Date; just click the top of the Date column in your account register. It's likely the transactions are in your register, just not where you thought they'd be.

    2. Are these transactions still marked as "pending" on your bank's website? Pending transactions have been authorized by your bank but not cleared and paid from your account yet. Most banks don't allow transactions to download until the transaction clears the bank.

    3. Was the missing transaction incorrectly matched to another transaction in the register? This is common with repeating payments made to the same payee for the same amount.

    4. Have any transactions been deleted recently? Transactions won't download again after being deleted. If a transaction was deleted in error, you can re-enter it manually (if there's a large group of deleted transactions, it may also be easier to restore a backup).

    5. Was the transaction moved from one account register to another? Click on All Transactions in your account bar and search for the missing transaction. If you find the transactions in an incorrect account, you can move the transactions to the correct account: just select the transaction(s), right-click, and select Move transaction(s). Select the correct account and click OK.

    6. Was an older backup restored after you accepted the downloaded transaction(s)? The backup file will restore account information up to the date it was created, which may be before the missing transactions were downloaded.

    Today's 8/30 Update: Merrill Lynch Still Not Working, Continuing getting CC-505 Error.

    I contacted Merrill Lynch on this issue as well. So, Merrill Lynch on Friday communicated to me that they have spoken to Intuit. It appears, an update that Intuit did, caused this issue. I'm not sure from the communication if this is something Intuit needs to fix or Merrill Lynch? But as a Customer of Quicken, this is a major issue that has been broken for a week now and needs to be fixed ASAP. Intuit needs to communicate to its Customers an ETA of this issue being resolved!

    Since the issue has persisted for over 48 hours, I recommend contacting Quicken Support directly for further assistance with this issue since they have access to tools that we can't access on the Community and they're able to escalate the issue as needed. The Quicken Support phone number can be found through this link here. Phone support is available from 5:00 am PT to 5:00 pm PT, Monday through Friday (They will be closed on Labor Day).

    It is Sept 11 and my Updates from Merrill Lynch STILL ARE NOT WORKING! Can Intuit, not get this fixed in a reasonable time frame. This is why I pay for this software year after year.

    As I mentioned in another post, I am unable to move to EWC+ for Merrill. In my case, when signing into Merrill, it says 'No elegible accounts'. It is imperative that this gets addressed. If Quicken/Merrill discontinue direct connect access I will be dead in the water. Quicken, please address these issues.

    I am having the same issue with Merrill and downloading transactions to Quicken. I accepted the "upgrade" to Express Web Connect + on 9/17, and reauthorized the connection on Merrill website. I have not been able to successfully download any data at all since accepting the change. I've never had any problem before that. I now get a CC-505 error for all of the Merrill accounts. Have already tried editing the account details and resetting the accounts to re-establish connection, but still get the same CC-505 error message. It seems the conversion worked OK for Bank of America, but not for Merrill.

I can see you were getting the CC-505 error earlier today, but it also looks like you were able to finally get connected a bit later. Is that correct, or are you still seeing the CC-505 errors on your end?

    Yes, I was finally able to connect. I had to deauthorize all the accounts, then shut down Quicken, then restart Quicken, than add back in with link and reauthorize. I no longer get the CC-205 error, BUT none of the transactions map correctly. Transactions that had previously shown as dividends or interest or capital gains in the old connection method now all cross as simple cash transactions in the linked cash account, and are not mapping with the correct transactional details in the investment/brokerage account.

    Thanks for the follow-up, but I am unable to check currently. This morning, I am now getting multiple CC-501 connection errors for Merrill, but also for several other banks.
