Transaction reconciliation

When I download banking transactions, Quicken doesn't recognize it as a MATCH if the transaction date is too many days prior to the expected due date.

For example, my college loan payment is scheduled, under bills, to be paid on the 28th of the month. If I make and early payment, say 2 weeks ahead of time, when the payment is downloaded and accepted, Quicken will not match it to the expected bill payment. I must manually change the date to a date closer to the expected payment date in order for the "bill payment" to consider it a match and advance the next expected payment date.

I then have to go back and override the transaction record back to the date I paid it.

Please advise if there is a way of having early than expected payments recognized, as the next bill payment.

When you make that early payment, are you recording it in your Q account as having been paid?

When you're in your banking account and click the GEAR icon in the upper right corner and click REGISTER COLUMNS and check "Downloaded Posting Date" how does that compare to what you actually did?
