Quicken CSV file import should recognize either "-" or "(" and ")" for specifying negative numbers in the Amount column. While testing CSV File Import, a CSV file containing negative amounts formatted with surrounding parentheses were not recognized as negative numbers. The more conventional minus sign was recognized. Excel, perhaps by default, may export negative amounts in .xlsx files with surrounding parentheses instead of a proceeding minus sign. In Excel, specifying a proceeding minus sign for negative numbers is possible to work around the Quicken deficiency. Since Quicken strips off surrounding parentheses, making the number inside negative could be a minor change.
