Recording Customer Payments
When I receive payment for a customer invoice I deposit the check into an online investment account but the account is not available as a deposit account when recording the payment. I can do a dummy deposit into my checking account and then do a transfer to investment account but why is the investment account not available as a deposit account?

Here's what you can do:
After creating a backup of your Quicken data file … just in case, you know …
Go into Edit Details for your taxable brokerage account (retirement accounts do not apply) and, on the General Tab enable the option "Show cash in a checking account".This will create a banking account register named the same as the brokerage account, but with a suffix of "-Cash". The register appears in the Banking section of the Account sidebar, next to your other checking accounts. It will be selectable in the New Customer Payment transaction's "Deposit to:" field.
