Have trouble maintaining reconciliation with Macy's Credit Card account

I've had problems maintaining reconciliation after "Update Account" is performed for my Macy's Credit Card account. What appears to be happening is that pending Macy's transactions are prematurely downloaded from my Macy's account, and then Quicken (Classic for Mac) will flag the fact the the Quicken account balance and the actual Macy's balance (which does not yet include the pending transactions) do not match.

I can work around the problem by unchecking the "CLR" checkbox and then manually triggering reconciliation, but I've only noticed this problem recently. By contrast, my other credit cards do not seem to be having this problem. The Macy's link seems to be unavailable more often than the links to the other institutions as well.

Is anyone else aware of potential problems with the Quicken / Macys accounts interface?

    Thank you for letting us know you're seeing this issue. To clarify, are you seeing transactions that are still pending on the financial institution website downloading into Quicken as though they're already posted? When did you first notice this behavior? Have you contacted the financial institution about this issue?

    @Quicken Kristina that is correct. I think I first noticed this behavior with a charge dated around 9/30. The problem could have been happening earlier, but our Macy's activity can be somewhat sporadic so we wouldn't necessarily have seen it if it were earlier.

    @Quicken Kristina Please see attached. Charges marked with blue are downloads which cannot be included in the reconciled total of $359.27. Manual workaround is to "unclear" those charges and then do reconciliation for only the charges falling in within the reconciled balance. As noted above, problem has been happening for me since around 9/30.

    @Quicken Kristina , I had not contacted Macy's customer service because I did not know which organization maintained the Macy's-specific part of the Quicken interface. If I should contact the financial institution first, in this case it looks like it would be:

    • Macy's Credit Customer Service 1-888-257-6757

    For now, it looks like the downloads and the balance are back in sync and reconciled on my Quicken copy of the Macy's account. I will update if I learn anything new, especially if there are continued problems. Thanks for your help.
