EWC+ simply doesn't work - Fidelity

Tried numerous times with different results. Hundreds of duplicate transactions. Hundreds of existing transactions renamed as CASH ADVANCE transferred from a credit card account that was closed out several years ago. Dividends now appearing as CASH ADVANCE. Linked cash management impossible to reconcile. Talked to both Fidelity and Quicken who blame the other. So I still have a pristine file from my last DC backup. I guess I will just pause, take a deep breath after spending hours to resolve. Quicken is now of no use to me.

    Hello @es114,

Thank you for sharing your experience, though I'm sorry to hear that the transition to Express Web Connect+ has not gone smoothly for you. Do you have the ticket number handy from when you contacted Quicken Support? Being able to see what troubleshooting has already been done will help, so that I'm not recommending steps you've already tried.

When did you first encounter these issues? Over what timeframe have you made the numerous attempts? I ask because different results with back to back attempts would point to possible file-specific issues, while different results over the course of days/weeks would be expected since issues have been getting reported to our teams and corrected.

I look forward to your response!

thanks for your reply. After several unsuccessful downloads I tried a test file that had no fidelity history. It downloaded successfully except for the linked checking account. I was unable to reconcile a $10k error. I did notice that the linked accounts were now one. Also there was only 3 months of history in any account. Maybe 3 years. I can’t remember. This morning I tried several times to switch to EWC but got wildly inaccurate figures. Hundreds of duplicates and hundreds of checking accounts linked to a credit card account that was closed yers ago. I then tried again allowing EWC to add all Fidelity accounts as new accounts. Oddly the results were better. I did have to deactivate many accounts without any value. All that was left for me to cleanup were hundreds of duplicate entries in that same closed out credit card account and 50+ transactions in that same account that had to be corrected and directed to other accounts by following the fidelity website on another computer. I still have problems with the linked checking account though with $5k imbalance and known problems with FDZXX. I did send in a report about my problems a week ago but have no ticket.

    Quicken Kristina,

thanks for your attempts to help all of us with the Quicken/Fidelity EWC+ connection issues. In all honesty, I feel all you should be saying is that "right now, we are aware of all the issues and are working on a solution." I've had problems since mid September. I had to contact Quicken support to help restore a back up after freaking out. I will not be attempting to reconnect until I read that EVERYONE has reported that all issues are solved. Anything you suggest trying will likely result in more problems for us than help. I hope this gets resolved sooner than later.

    Thank you for your reply,

I'm glad to hear that adding the accounts as new accounts did give you better results. If you added them as new in your main Quicken file, you should be able to backup your file and use the move transactions function to copy your history from the old accounts to the newly added ones.

Based on your description of the issues you encountered with your earlier attempts, it sounds like Quicken was guessing wrong and trying to incorrectly link to the wrong accounts, which is how you were ending up with such messy results.

You mentioned you're still having issues with the linked cash account being off. Is that due to one or more money market funds showing as cash instead of a security (or as a security instead of cash), or is something else throwing the balance off?

    Thank you!
