Quicken not downloading current security prices

Running Classic Premier on Windows (Release R64.30)

For the last week or so, security pricing from WellsFargo Advisors is incorrect. When I go to the report for an individual security, the closing price from yesterday is correct but the current price is not. For example, today (22Oct25) @ 9AM (before market opens):
** AAPL
** Yesterday's close: $262.77 (correct)
** Current price: $232.14 (INcorrect)

I have toggled Edit→Preferences→Investments→Real-Time quotes on/off and there is no difference.

Any advice??

Thanks!

It looks like you could be getting pre-market prices from your broker (I don't believe Quicken pricing service gives pre or post market prices at least I have never gotten them). Those prices would get replaced with the prices from the Quicken pricing service once you update after the market opens and with the day's closing price when you update after the close. Are the prices correct when you update after the market is open? I would assume so since your closing price from yesterday was correct.

As an aside, many stocks are now traded 24 hours a day. There is pre market trading, post market trading and overnight trading. I believe some brokers will provide some or all of these prices in Quicken downloads.

Please note that if the Real time quotes box is checked and you update quotes before the market is opens, Quicken's Update Quotes DOES download prices for today from pre market trading. If the box is un-checked, nothing is downloaded for today until at least 15 minutes after the market opens.

In this sequence before the market opens

    1. Check Real time quotes
    2. Update quotes
    3. Observe that a pre-market price for today has been stored
    4. Un-check Real time Quotes
    5. Update quotes

the pre-market price will still be shown. In order to get rid of the pre-market price, you would have to delete it after Step 3 or do your second quote update after the market opens.

@Jim_Harman , so that means pre-market quotes are coming from the Quicken Quote provider? I have never tried real time quotes (never thought they belonged in Quicken in the first place) .

Either way, the point is if you get a pre-market price once you update during the day it will be replaced by a regular market price and/or by the closing price after the end of the day.

@bmciance Yes, I experimented with this a while ago and with Real time quotes enabled, you do get pre and post market quotes from the quote provider. You may also get them from your FI.

There are other long-standing issues with Real time quotes that as far as I know have never been resolved. For example, see this discussion
