Cannot update password for Fifth Third Bank

When I try to update my password on Quicken, I can't because it says "The information Quicken has from Fifth Third Bank is that the password can be no longer than 12 characters long. Enter OK to try again." My password is longer than 12 characters and Fifth Third Bank allows up to 24 characters. How can I fix this?

    Hello @ghalweg,

    Thank you for sharing your experience.

    When I try to connect to Fifth Third Bank, I do not get the same message you are describing. Just to confirm, are you using the Fifth Third Bank instance in Quicken, or one of the others? Where exactly are you updating the password when you get this message?

    Additionally, a screenshot of what you are seeing may be helpful. If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.

    Looking forward to your response!

    I cannot show a screenshot as it would show my userid and my total balance in Quicken. I am trying to update my Fifth Third Bank password in Quicken. I get an error message during the one step update.

    @ghalweg,

    Thank you for following up with those additional details.

    We do have a Known Issue with Fifth Third Bank, but it sounds different than what you are experiencing.

    When checking internally, I am unable to see your connection attempts to Fifth Third Bank. That most likely just means you are using the Direct Connect connection method. This connection method uses the financial institution's servers to transmit data to and from Quicken. This connection method sometimes also requires a special set of credentials in Quicken.

    Please give Fifth Third Bank a call. Ask to speak with someone in online banking. They should be able to provide some insight into what their requirements are for this process.

    Let us know how it goes!
