2FA Authentication Window not Appearing for LPL Financial

Today I performed the one step update and the window for two factor authentication appeared for LPL like it usually does. I clicked on text message to my phone. The code came through, I entered it and the OSU went through fine on everything except LPL. It gave me a CC-585 error and said that I had to answer a security question and to retry it to provide the answer. I retried, but no opportunity arose to answer anything. Now, if I fire up Quicken OSU, there is no window shown for the 2FA and the same error appears every time for LPL. Do I need to reset something here or is there a problem on the server?

    Hello @schmieg,

    Thanks for providing these details.

    When I checked internally, it appears that your last connection attempt with LPL Financial was successful. Can you confirm whether you’re still seeing the CC-585 error when trying to update now?

    Thank you!

    Late in the afternoon yesterday, the One Step Update process suddenly began showing the 2FA windows again and things worked properly. I haven't checked it again today to see if it still does.

    It seemed like something locked up somewhere when this occurred and one part of the system thought that the 2FA notice had been sent and one part did not. That persisted even after a reboot of the computer to see if that was the problem.

    Again, I don't know if it was the Quicken server or LPL, but it seems to be working. I will return here if it does it again. Thanks for the reply.

    @schmieg Thanks for the update and for sharing the details of what happened. It sounds like the 2FA window issue resolved itself, which is good to hear!

    It’s possible that something temporarily “locked up” during the update process, as you described, either on Quicken’s side or with LPL’s system. Since it’s working now, there’s no action needed at the moment, but keeping an eye on it is a good idea.

    If the issue occurs again, please let us know so we can investigate further.

    It started doing it again today. First, it gave me a cc-501 error and then, subsequently, the cc-585 error. I will try it again this afternoon.

    @schmieg thanks for the update!

    Since you initially saw the CC-501 error, it’s possible that this is related to a known issue we’re currently monitoring. You can find more information and ongoing updates in these Community Alerts:

    1. Reopened 11/1/25 One Step Update Slowness / Error CC-501/FDP-101
    2. NEW 10/31/25 QWIN - CC-501 - Multiple financial institutions

    As you suggested, please try again later this afternoon and let us know how it goes. Once we hear back, we can check whether the widespread issue has been resolved or if this might be an isolated case.

    Thank you!
