Quicken didn't auto save my work

Yesterday, I updated my checking and several credit card accounts. I added transaction categories and reconciled the accounts. I backed up the file before I exited Quicken. Today, I logged into Quicken to continue updating. The transactions I categorized yesterday no longer showed categories and the accounts I reconciled are unreconciled. Nearly all the work I did yesterday is gone. I realize I can recover the updated file from the back up however I would like to understand why this is happening.

    @Jean Zick I suspect there is a problem syncing your data to the Quicken Cloud. Has this problem happened more than once?

    Do you use the mobile apps or Quicken on the Web? If you go to Edit > Preferences > Mobile & Web, is Sync enabled? If you don't use the apps, you can safely turn Sync off (slider to the left.)

    If you do use the apps, you might consider turning Sync off temporarily to see if that prevents the problem from occurring again.
