Reconcile Issue
I have had Quicken for 20+ years and always entered my transactions manually and reconciled my account each month when my bank statement arrived - and for 20+ years I balance to the penny every month.
Suddenly, I have 4 months in my reconcile history that have discrepancies. (Two back from 2023) (Two from 2021) And this month I cant get my account to balance - I've tried everything I know - and I even connected it to my bank and had the automatic import of data - and that actually made it so much worse! Now I am wondering if I can restore my account back to a previous backup as I have no idea how to fix or undo everything I have tried to fix while chasing this problem.

Assuming you have Quicken set to create backups, you can certainly revert to one of them. The question is: what (how many) backups do you have. You'll need to find one prior to this problem occurring. If you have backups set to keep 20 or 50 backups, you likely have one far enough back; if you have backups set to only 5 backups, you may not have one going far enough back. If the latter is the case, you likely also have backups which Quicken automatically creates each time you install an update — and these are not auto-deleted. In your Backups folder, the ones automatically created each time you quit Quicken are named "BACKUP (Automatic)" followed by the file name and the date; the ones created when installing an update are named "BACKUP (Pre-Update)".
If you do not have your bank accounts set to download automatically, then a bank download can't be the culprit. Do you have Sync to Quicken Cloud turned on? (This is in Settings > Mobile, Web & Alerts). If yes, it's possible that something with the could sync messed up a few transactions in your desktop file. In theory, this shouldn't happen, but anecdotal reports from users points to this being an infrequent problem. Quicken has never acknowledged such issues that I'm aware of, but I (and many other Quicken users) leave Sync turned Off specifically to avoid the infrequent problem of data in your cloud file improperly overwriting data in your desktop file.

Thank you Jacobs - this is super helpful! I do have backups on and I have one that goes back to my last date of reconciliation - so I think I should be able to restore from a backup - do you have a step by step for that process?
