Windows Quicken Backend Issues

Dear Quicken Community,

What's your experience w/ the backend services of Windows Quicken Classic? I'm currently using Version R65.17, Build: 27.165.17. But my problem and frustration has existed for many, many months, through many versions and updates. That problem is that I routinely (daily) encounter a hung application/endless loop processing. Which can last for hours, even overnight. I never receive an error message. The app is just unresponsive. When I open the Windows Task Manager, it shows that the Quicken App is not responding. In order to recover, I have to Force-End Quicken via the task manager, which shuts down the app. When I restart the app, it may or may not have completed the task whether that be downloading my Chase bank transactions or a Quicken cloud sync. Sometimes, it's completed the task, sometimes it has not. It's really a crap-shoot. I've worked w/ Tech Support many times on multiple occasions. On several occasions, we seem to solve the problem, only for it to reoccur days or weeks later. Given the frequency and persistence of this problem, it's hard for me to believe that it's unique to me.

It's amazing to me, that after years and years of providing this capability, that the company has not or can not improve the reliability of its backend services. This is a big detraction from the value of the product because it affects every aspect of the Quicken ecosystem: Desktop, Web and Mobile app. My suggestion is that you focus on perfecting the existing functions and features, before trying to sell customer new products like the Quicken Hub.

Since you are asking the community, I will share mine. I don't use the cloud and mobile & web features only because the Sync function is problematic and therefore I have turned it off. I review the comments on the community before I decide to update and therefore I am a few releases behind (April's R62.16 is my primary setup and testing on the latest R65.17). I have also learned from the experts and SuperUsers to stay away from the problematic features (such as Sync).

Combination of those three MOs have kept me trouble-free for two years now and my data file and downloads have an outstanding performance.

To comment on your last statement, I would say Quicken needs to overhaul their QA approach on their releases since in the past few months they have been less than ideal.

I, also, don't use QMobile or QWeb … and I have no problems with any of my downloads for 7 different financial institutions including Chase and Fidelity.
