Service Credit Union (servicecu.org) MIA

It seems Service Credit Union has disappeared again from the list of financial institutions. I'm seeing the message:

Account must be re-setup due to bad connection state, UNKNOWN ANOMALOUS STATE.(1006)

This has been happening for two days now. I disabled the connection in downloads and tried to reconnect, but SCU (my Service CU) doesn't seem to be listed anymore. I went to SCU's website, which has been terrible since their redesign, and searched for Quicken. They have YouTube videos on how to disconnect and connect. Ironically, the video on how to connect says, "Use the information provided by your financial institution," but they do not provide that information in their FAQ or video.

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem?

    Hello @David Stempnakowski,

    Thanks for reaching out!

When a financial institution suddenly disappears from Quicken’s Financial Institution list, it typically indicates that the bank or credit union has discontinued online connectivity support with Quicken—either temporarily or permanently. This can happen if they’ve changed their systems, updated their online banking platform, or ended their data-sharing agreement with our service provider.

At this point, the best next step is to contact Service Credit Union directly to confirm whether they’ve intentionally removed support. If they weren’t aware of the issue, reporting it to them helps ensure they can work with our service provider to be added back to the directory.

    Hope this helps!

Yep.. also having the same error & issue. Noticed the institution is no longer listed and cannot reconnect the accounts.
I also agree SCU information about this is dreadfully lacking.

So it is not just you David. I will be reaching out to SCU as well

I reached out to SCU today as well. So frustrating this keeps happening with random accounts

I have been having the same issues. I've even opened a ticket with SCU, but to no avail. I don't understand why SCU has so many issues with Quicken. I'm using it on a MacBook. Are people using windows having the same issue?.

    Hello @wletourn, @DunD, and @PFR-Nashua-NH,

Thanks for sharing your experiences—I completely understand how frustrating it is.

@wletourn and @DunD, please let us know what SCU informs you after reaching out. Your feedback will help us better track and understand the issue.

@PFR-Nashua-NH, so far we haven’t received any reports of this issue from Windows users, and from what we can tell, SCU has not been removed from the Financial Institution list on Quicken Classic for Windows. If you happen to hear anything from SCU, or if the situation changes, please update us here.

    Thank you!

According to SCU, I was told that they know the feature is unavailable. They are suggesting a workaround of downloading QFX transaction files from the website (not the mobile app) and then importing it into your Quicken register.

A pain bit not much we can do about it at the moment. At least they are aware of it and "anticipate" it will eventually get resolved.

"At this time, the direct connect feature is not available. You will need to download the Quicken file within your online banking and manually upload. We do anticipate this feature will be available again, though we do not have a timeframe on when this will occur.

To download your transactions, on the full website (not on the app), please click on the account you are needing the information from. Then, under the search bar, click the Download Transactions icon. From there, in the Download Format drop down menu, please click QFX (Quicken WebConnect)."

SCU sends notices for all other kinds of stuff, but not this.

@wletourn Thanks for posting the follow-up. I still have not received a response to my message from a week ago.

@wletourn Thank you for taking the time to follow up and share what Service Credit Union told you—this is very helpful, and I appreciate you posting the details here for everyone else affected.

Based on what you were told, it does appear that SCU has temporarily disabled their direct connection, which explains why the institution is no longer appearing in the Financial Institution list in Quicken for Mac. Using QFX (Quicken Web Connect) downloads from their website is the correct workaround for now.

Unfortunately, since the availability of online connectivity is controlled by the financial institution, Quicken is limited in what we can do until SCU re-enables support on their end. We understand how inconvenient this is, especially without clear communication from the bank.

Thanks again for sharing the update—if SCU provides any additional information or a timeline, please feel free to post it here.

If you didn't disconnect your accounts to troubleshoot, the connection may be working again in the 8.4 release. I disconnected one account, but left a second alone. It is now updating since I installed the latest release.

Thanks for sharing, @David Stempnakowski! Glad to hear the 8.4 release helped at least one account start updating again—good to know it’s making a difference for some users.

I contacted the SCU digital services and again was told it will be fixed after the first of the year. I was sent an email from a technician and was told he couldn't respond with an answer and to call the helpline. I was told to disconnect the connection to correct this issue. I have been using the download feature from the website and not the app. It worked great till December 10, 2025. There has been no complaints for Windows Quicken?

We finally received a response to our secure message to SCU and were informed there is no ETA for a fix and to use the export as QFX option.

    Hello @PFR-Nashua-NH & @David Stempnakowski ,

Thanks for the updates! It sounds like SCU has confirmed the direct connection is still unavailable, and unfortunately, there’s no ETA for when it will be restored.

So far, we haven’t seen any other Community reports of this issue on Quicken for Windows, so it seems isolated to Mac users at the moment.

Appreciate you both keeping the community posted—these updates are really helpful for anyone else affected.

I'm curious if this is an SCU problem. I just installed the Windows version of Quicken, created a new data file, and in the search for financial institution box, www.servicecu.org shows as available.

Why would it appear in the Windows Quicken version and not the Mac version? Do the different software versions reference different data files?
