Export an Account and then Import it into a new data file question....
From Quicken Update R65.15 it says this:
Version R65.15 (US Versions, November 2025)
File Management
- NEW - Added the ability to export selected accounts and related data into a new Quicken Transfer Format (.QXF) file, which can then be imported to create a new Quicken data file. Because securities and price history are included only if present in the selected accounts, this feature can be used to create compact file subsets—for example, excluding all accounts to create an empty file that retains the existing category list.
My Question: Can an account that is closed and hidden be exported and then imported to a new data file and will any transaction attachments also be accessible?
I have many closed and hidden files in my live data file that may need to be accessed in the future and I would like to move the closed hidden files from my live data file to a new data file and be able to access them as needed.

WHY? File size has almost nothing to do with Q performance, so how do you think you'll benefit from this?

The attachments will not be included in the export file unfortunately. Also in the investment accounts, the designations in the "Action" column may change. In my experience the QIF export format is more accurate than the QXF but still will not include any attachments. You also need to consider any "Transfer" transactions and how you want to handle those.
The best approach would be to test this and compare. This is one of those situations where having a VM and two monitors will allow you to launch two files side-by-side.

The short answer is that the closed accounts would be archived in a dedicated data file with only one purpose.

I was hoping that someone had already tried this on closed and hidden accounts so I wouldn't need to spend the time and create a test file and etc. etc. just to discover it would not work on closed and hidden files.
