Settings for "Transaction Downloads"
Under "Transaction Downloads" in "account settings", the option to "Download transactionf starting yyy-mm-dd" is grayed out. This causes every download to includeover two months wort of transactions making a total mess of my accounts as I have to delete all the transactions that had been previously downloaded. This problem only started a month or so ago. Any idea as to why the second option is grayed out.
I am currently using Quicken Classic version 8.4.1 on an iMac running MacOS Sequoia 15.7.2

The date option is grayed out for me as well in a test account, but that shouldn't cause duplicate transactions n your Quicken data file. Every transaction your financial institutions download includes a unique Financial Institution Transaction ID number (called the "FITID"). Quicken looks at that number each time it downloads transactions from the financial institution; transactions which have a FITID it previously downloaded will be ignored by Quicken; only transactions with new FITID numbers will be added to your register. So it sounds like perhaps your financial institution made a change a month ago and they are not properly encoding each transaction with a unique (and permanent) FITID number.
You can see if this is the case if you temporarily add the FITID column to your register display (click the Columns icon to ge the list of available columns). If you look at your newly downloaded transactions which duplicate older transactions, see if they have different FITID numbers. If so, that's the fault of the financial institution, not Quicken.
You could report this to Quicken, and they can hopefully get their connectivity provider (Intuit) to reach out to your financial institution about the problem, or you could contact your financial institution directly and try to get to talk to someone in IT support who is familiar with their transaction download process.

Here are some of the results after downloading transactions. You can see how the FIDIT changes.

@Dutch0 Yes, I see the duplicate transactions, and they have different FITID numbers. That's the fault of your financial institution. the FITID numbers are the way Quicken prevents duplicates from appearing in your register, but if the financial institution doesn't keep the unique FITID number the same for each transaction Quicken can't tell they are duplicates. So this is something you ought to pursue with the financial institution; Quicken can't fix this. You could also report this to Quicken Support and ask them to escalate it to their connectivity team to pursue with the financial institution, but I don't know if they will take the lead on this.
