Quicken Classic for Windows Merrill Lynch BofA Syncing issues

I hope this helps someone as I've been trying to resolve this for weeks with no success. Since they've modified the direct connect to the EWC+ method and I have accounts with benefits, ml investments as well as BofA, I could get my BofA working pretty easily but not the ML stuff it hadn't been fixed in months. I tried creating a new account, deep repairing my files, removing download then trying to reaccess and each time, I'd try to set back up ML, which prompts you to login, and prompts you which accounts to setup, then going back into quicken after authorizing it would give me an error:

"Sorry, the sign in failed due to a time out or a connection error"

Here's how I fixed it.

Not using quicken, just a browser Revoke 3rd party access at benefits.ml.com as well as ml.com or at least check everything is revoked there even after disabling the online connection in quicken. It was very frustrating as I kept following the instructions given from support on disabling all your online content but i never went in the ml or benefits websites to revoke the third party access. Until you do that you'll constantly get a bounce trying to setup your quicken logins. Its hard to find in the ML site, you go to security center, then there are tabs at the top of the screen that pops ups for third party access. I nearly gave up on quicken completely but this finally fixed it and now all my accounts BofA, ML and benefits.ml are downloading again!

    Hello @QknKSM,

Thank you so much for sharing your solution! This is really helpful for anyone experiencing the same or a similar issue.

It sounds like revoking third-party access outside of Quicken resolved the “sign in failed due to a time out or a connection error” problem.

    Thanks again for sharing!

Actually I think i found out the another tying issue. If you have both Bank of America & Merrill Lynch accounts, you need to setup their EWC+ syncs separately. Meaning, you are trying to setup Merrill Lynch or ML Benefits, you need to NOT select the BofA accounts when it lists all your accounts you want to authorize quicken with during that part of the initial signin setup, which is counterto the instructions, and ONLY check your Merrill Accounts, otherwise you will also get a blocked message.. I actually bought a subscription to simplifi to test originially i thought it was a classic desktop issue but its another weird Merrill Lynch problem its very quirky!! but now finally it all works when you know how to set the buttons. This may change of course if BofA or Merrill fix this in the future, but at least for now, this is how you can get things to sync.
