Budgeting in Quicken Classic B&P- why won't my newly created budget show personal expenses?

My budget function blew up last year; it was only showing select categories, inexplicably. If I remember, this was after a sync. Now I'm trying to create a new budget for 2026, and though I've selected all the categories I want to budget, it won't show any personal expenses. WTF?

    I'm wondering if my files have been corrupted and I need to start a completely new file? How do I tell? This will be a major effort and I will lose a lot of data (10+ years). I am really not pleased with Quicken's level of software support, and the fact that the prices are set to jump a lot is really making me consider whether there are other options.
