Installation fails due to failure to authenticate

Installing Quicken Classic for Mac on new Mac mini. When trying to install it fails with the following message: Failed to perform authenticated file move for Quicken.app.

Applications folder has permissions Read & Write for system and admin (me). Applications folder does not have any hidden files (some suggestions included looking for one).

The Quicken files in my user account are in DropBox if that makes any difference.

I can install on a MacBook with same OS (26.2) so it is something about my new computer (user account migrated last night).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't think it relates to the problem you are posting about, but you should never have your active Quicken data file on Dropbox (or iCloud or OneDrive or any cloud storage service). It's fine to store your backups on Dropbox, but not the live data file. It may have worked fine for you in the past, but sooner or later, many users run into odd problems or errors because of the way the Quicken database can be synced in pieces to the cloud service.

Back to your installation issue…

Did you download a fresh copy of the installer from Quicken.com? If not, I;'d suggest you do that; go to the website, log into your account, and download the Mac installer to your hard drive. With that installer on your Desktop or Downloads folder, double click to run it and see if you run into the same problem.

Thanks re files in Quicken. I was hoping to backup the files online in addition to Time Machine. I'll have to look at it.

Strange thing is Quicken installs on my MacBook Air (I guess I should check again). I just deleted another app and reinstalled it on Mac mini with no problems.
