Mac OS 12.7.4 Monterey

I believe I saw an email that said Monterey will no longer be supported by Quicken. I am using Quicken Version 8.4.2. Does that mean my version will no longer work or just no new updates ? How will it affect downloading accounts ? I am assuming I will have to update OS eventually. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

They haven't actually dropped support for Monterey yet, but they have said that will happen "in the coming months". The release notes will indicate when the last version to support Monterey has been released & that hasn't happened yet, so you have at least one more update coming.

When it does happen, you'll be stuck on whatever version that ends up being. I would expect it to continue to be fully functional for some time but eventually they'll make some kind of change to the servers that won't be backwards compatible and you'll start having issues downloading transactions. It might take a couple years for that to happen, there's no way to be sure how much time you'll have. At that point you'd have to manage your accounts manually.

If you want to be able to continue downloading transactions, you should start making plans to upgrade your Mac to something that can run an OS newer than Monterey in the next year or two.

    Hello @dmurad53,

In addition to the information @Jon provided, here is what our article on System Requirements says about using a no longer supported operating system:

If you continue using Quicken for Mac on an unsupported version of macOS, the application may continue to run, but you will not be able to update to newer versions of Quicken for Mac or receive new features and improvements. In addition, online services may stop working at any time on unsupported macOS versions, including features such as transaction download and Quicken Online Backup.

    I hope this helps!
