Fidelity download not recognizing securities

After doing download from Fidelity, it is not recognizing security from brokerage account, so it is adding a placeholder transaction to delete all shares of given security. This is happening for multiple fidelity accounts, I have already tried deleting conention and adding it again. Running Quicken for MAC 8.4.2

It is happening with several Fidelity securities, when downloading the transactions, it doesn't match the ticker symbols that is downloading with the ones that already exist in the register. Merging will correct it, but then it happens again in the next download. It creates placeholder transactions to account for the difference in shares between online and quicken. I believe this started happening in version 8.4.

    Hi, @crg63

When you merged in the past, which name did you use "going forward"?

When Fidelity was doing their migration to Quicken Connect, many of us saw this with similar duplication of securities that kept repeating despite the merging exercise. It only appeared to resolve when one chose to use the new ticker symbol name going forward.

ticker symbols are the same, however sometimes the security name is different. In Windows version it used to use CUSIP ID to match the security, however this does not exist in the MAC version.

I think the difference is less Mac/Win and more with how Intuit's new backend is working regarding matching. Intuit is still the data provider for the program.

When you go to match the two tickers, you will be prompted which ticker (which will be the same) and name (which will be slightly different). Use the option with the new Security name that just got downloaded not what all your old transactions have.

The older transactions will reflect the new name after this merge. Obviously, make a backup before you do any chanages. Good luck!
