NY's 529 College Savings Program - not able to connect

Hi All

At some point late last week, around Jan 23, nysaves.org is not syncing. I have tried re-connecting the account, and syncing again over the last few days but I continually receive the FI_TIMEOUT (FDP-102) error.

Are their any known issues with this institution?

Thank you for letting us know you're seeing this issue. To troubleshoot, please follow these steps from our article on FDP-102 errors:

Try logging in to your bank's website

At your bank's website, try to log in. Then navigate to the transactions in one of the accounts you're trying to add.

What if I could not sign into my bank's website?

If you couldn't sign in from the website, the next thing to do is to try bank names similar to yours. This would be necessary if two accounts you usually access from the same website are available under different names on our list. For example, from the Wells Fargo website, you might see your Wells Fargo checking and auto loan accounts listed together. But from within Quicken, you may need to:

Select Wells Fargo Bank to add your checking account.
Select Wells Fargo Auto Loans to add your loan account.

Here's how to find bank names similar to the one you last chose:

Close the browser window that contains your bank's website.
Back in Quicken, click No, maybe I chose the wrong bank name.
If you see another variation on your bank's name, click it, and try signing in.

If the steps above don't resolve the issue

The cause could be that the bank account login password uses special characters that interfere with Quicken's ability to download transactions. These special characters are ampersand (&), left carat (<), right carat (>), backslash (\), and forward slash (/). Having these characters in the password can also prevent you from activating an account for Quicken Connect. You will need to change your password with your bank to use characters other than these five special characters.

I am also consistently getting the same FDP-102 error when trying to sync my NYSaves 529 College Savings Program account in Simplifi. I can log in fine directly from the nysaves.org website. Also, I do not have any of the special characters you referenced above in my password. The last time the account synced was around January 19th. Any other advice on how to fix the issue?

Hi @Quicken Kristina thanks for the troubleshooting steps. I can confirm logging into the website directly works fine so I can rule out it's not an issue with the nysaves.org website. The issue is with Quicken's connection to the institution.

I'm another person chiming in to say that I can't connect to my NYSaves 529 account via Quicken for Mac either, with the same FDP-102 error that others have reported. This also started for me about a week ago (01/23/2026). Any help in resolving this would be great — I'm also able to login to the site with my username and password, and my password doesn't have any of the special characters referenced above either.

Hello!

I confirm I have been having the same issue for about 10 days using Quicken for Mac. Nothing changed and I can connect to my account fine from their website. I have reported the issue every time but, as of today, it stills persists.

Here is a screenshot of the error. Please fix!

Same issue. Logging into NYSaves.org using browser works but have issues setting up connection in Quicken Classic. Also financial institution of the account is displayed with garbage characters.
