Shares mismatched. When I tried to reconcile, previous shares disappeared

I am using Windows 10 on an HP Desktop. In December 2025, I started receiving messages about placeholder entries. When I attempted to reconcile the changes, the number of shares prior to this disappeared.

I probably did something wrong.

Should I delete the shares and account and start over?

Thanks.

If you have good information prior to December then what I would do - assuming you're not a day trader with hundreds of trades per day - would be to delete every single Placeholder in the Account and delete every trade after the "known good" date, then manually re-enter them. You should end up in agreement with the broker's numbers.

IF you are allowing "Automatic Entry" of transactions and Placeholders into the Transaction List I'd say "Stop that!"

It's OK to get warned that you're out of balance with the broker, but you need to understand WHY it happened. You could simply be fighting timing differences, e.g., broker has a balance that includes a recent transaction but for whatever reason that trade wasn't picked up in the download, so now you're "out of balance."
