RESOLVED 2/20/26 Fidelity Core Cash Transactions Downloading as “Cover Short Sale (CvrShrt)”
We are getting reports of Fidelity account owners getting incorrectly classified cash/core money market activity as Cover Short Sale(CvrShrt/CvrShrtX) transactions.
These downloads appear after One Step Update and affect multiple Fidelity account types (investment accounts, IRAs, and CMA accounts). Transactions often span prior dates (e.g., January 2026) and do not appear on the Fidelity website.
In some cases, legitimate cash transactions such as bank drafts, settlements, or money market fund activity (e.g., SPAXX, FDLXX) that previously downloaded as Withdrawals or MMF sales are now downloading as Covered Shorts.
This is a known issue that we are working to resolve as quickly as possible. We currently have no ETA to provide on when a resolution can be expected, but we will post updates as soon as we do.

UPDATE 2/11/26
We’re continuing to work with Intuit and Fidelity to deliver a permanent fix for this issue.
In the meantime, here are the recommended steps:
- If you treat your Money Market fund as cash, you can safely delete the affected transactions.
- If you track your Money Market fund as a security, please change the transaction action to “Sold.” This will correct the Money Market security balance without the need to enter a placeholder transaction.
If you have any questions or would like help with these steps, please let us know — we’re happy to assist.
Thank you for your patience while we sort this out.

RESOLVED 2/20/26
To ensure accurate transaction downloads, please confirm you’re using the most recent version of Quicken.
Recent updates include important improvements to how Fidelity Core Cash transactions are handled. Here’s what to expect:
If You Track Fidelity Core Cash as Cash
- New Fidelity Core Cash transactions should not download separately.
- They will be treated as cash and reflected directly in your account’s cash balance.
- You can manage this setting by going to:
Edit > Preferences > Downloaded Transactions
and enabling “Never interpret downloaded money market funds as cash.”
If you’ve been tracking Fidelity Core Cash as cash, you may notice some recent transactions (from the past few weeks) downloaded incorrectly as Money Market transactions with a transaction type of CvrShrt.
If you plan to continue tracking Fidelity Core Cash as cash, these incorrectly downloaded transactions should be deleted. If You Track Fidelity Core Cash as a Money Market Fund
- Fidelity Core Cash transactions will download as Buy and Sell transactions, which is expected behavior.
