I’m using Quicken Classic for Mac Version 8.4.2 (Build 804.59835.100) on macOS 26.2. Today I experienced a sudden change in how downloads from my Fidelity Brokerage account are being interpreted. For me this started on 2/11/26 and downloaded the subject transactions all the way to 1/1/26.
Account use case
- This Fidelity brokerage account is NOT used for investing. I use it like a money market / checkbook register to process deposits and pay bills.
- Historically, Quicken downloaded transactions in a way that mirrored Fidelity’s “Activity” tab: deposits, bill payments, etc. (a normal register).
What changed
- Starting this morning, Quicken began downloading a large set of additional transactions going back to January 1, 2026 (but not before).
- These new downloaded items are being categorized as investment transactions (Action = Buy / Category = Investments:Buy).
- The “security” name being used is:
“FDIC INSURED DEPOSIT GOLDMAN SACHS BANK NOT COVERED BY SIPC” - These appear to represent Fidelity core/cash sweep movements into/out of Fidelity’s FDIC Program Banks (core position), rather than actual investing activity.
Verification on Fidelity
- I confirmed Fidelity is generating these sweep entries; in the Fidelity Activity view they were initially hidden due to my filter settings. When I enabled the appropriate filter, I could see the sweep-related “settlement” entries.
What I tried
- Switching the account to Simple tracking in Quicken:
- This disables the transaction register (the Transactions button becomes greyed out), leaving only balances. Since I need the register for deposits/payments, Simple tracking is not usable for this account.
- Disconnecting and attempting to reactivate/reconnect:
- During reactivation Quicken only offers investment account sub-types; there is no option to connect/link this account as a checking/banking register.
Impact
- My register is now cluttered with “investment buy” transactions that represent internal cash sweep activity, making this account hard to use as a bill-pay/deposit register.
Request
- Please advise how to prevent Fidelity’s FDIC sweep/core-position activity from downloading as investment “Buy” transactions in Quicken Mac, or how to have Quicken treat this account’s downloaded activity as a normal cash register (deposits/withdrawals) without disabling the transaction register.
- If this is a known issue/regression in 8.4.2 or a Fidelity connectivity change, please let me know if there is a fix, patch, or recommended configuration/workaround.
