Recent Backup Issues with USB Flash Drive
I have been using USB flash drives or sticks as some call them to back up from desktop to laptop for years. Been using Quicken Since 1997 and have always either backed up my file on an external hard drive, an internal data drive not the C: drive and lately using a USB Flash drive both USB and USB C. A couple of days ago when I did this with a USB C flash drive to update what I had on my desktop PC to my laptop. When I then used my laptop and tried to download data from my banks, credit cards and investment company, nothing downloaded but I had a red circle with a red slash in front of the name of every account I attempted to download. I clicked on the circle and was given a Quicken Error message CC-800 which you get if you have deactivated or deleted an account and then restored a Quicken backup file. Because of this I had to reactivate every single account in order to download data. I want to know if this is something new with Quicken? I had a tech support person say yes you must use Cloud Backup or you will have to reactivate accounts. This seems ridiculous. What say you users?

Various people have been reporting CC-800 errors today, so I don't think your problem has anything to do with where you backup your data file.

Hi @Ron Varley,
I understand how important it is to be able to access your Quicken information from multiple computers, and I know it can be frustrating when the file doesn’t behave as expected. Quicken files, however, are not designed to be moved between different desktop installations or managed across multiple computers. Transferring the file—whether by manually moving it, restoring a backup from another device, or using the Quicken Online Backup service—can sometimes lead to connectivity or file‑integrity issues, even if it may have worked for a period of time.
To help with situations like this, your subscription includes access to the Quicken Classic web version at no additional cost. This allows you to keep your master file safely stored on your primary computer while using the web application on a secondary computer. The web version securely syncs with your desktop file, giving you convenient access without risking problems with the data file itself. Here you can find the guide on how to enable and use the web version: Quicken on the web
