I'm running Quicken Classic Premier on Windows 11 Pro. Like other reports I've seen, payment transactions to Truist stopped working a few months ago (fourth-quarter-ish of 2025). I could add new payees to the bank's billpay system, and I could download transactions. I just couldn't send a payment.
The error message was "Your financial institution has rejected your request. Additional information from your financial institution: Web service call failed [OL-301-A]."
To make a very long, tedious troubleshooting story short, the problem was apparently a new sensitivity to at least some special characters. In the payment I was using for testing, the "description" field in the online payee record was appended to the payee name in the payment transaction separated by curly brackets "{ }". I removed the description from the record so that the payee field no longer had the brackets, and the payment went through normally. From what the Truist third-level (?) support said, I gather that the problem MAY also be triggered by some types of special characters in the memo field as well, but I haven't tested that.
Might be a good place to start troubleshooting if you encounter this problem.
