BYDDF – “Stock Splits May Be Missing”. Anyone Still Seeing This?

I previously posted several detailed conversations about the BYDDF / BYDDY “Stock Splits May Be Missing” error (all were closed). I've included a link to the most recent thread.

I reported the error to Quicken elevated support 8 months ago (CTP-9154). It’s a known issue, but there’s still no fix date and no new updates.

I’m still getting the BYDDF “Stock Splits May Be Missing” message after every One Step Update with a phantom 6:1 split showing as the missing split. (That "missing" transaction is not a stock split, its a share dividend, and it does not belong to clas BYDDF. It is a share dividend for BYDDY).

• Is anyone else still seeing this error?

• Has it stopped for anyone recently?

• Has anyone found a workaround beyond clearing the alert?

There aren't any good workarounds that I'm aware of. The best I've been able to find is backup your file, accept the change, then edit as appropriate, as described in this earlier post:

I am not clear on what you are saying there, but a 'share dividend' - meaning the company distributes shares rather than a cash dividend - is treated as a stock split in Quicken and in real life (I believe). Your basis does not change either in total or for each lot.

Thanks Quicken Kristina. I reviewed the suggested fix, but that situation is different from what’s happening here. In that example, the solution was to accept a split and adjust the dates to make everything line up. That won’t solve this problem.

In this case, BYD Co. Ltd. has two different share classes that trade separately. Each share class had its own split, on different dates and with different ratios. During a one-time bad data feed, those two separate splits were treated as if they belonged to the same security, and both were downloaded into BYDDF. The 6-for-1 split does not belong to BYDDF, but it's still sitting in BYDDF’s historical data.

Every time One Step Update runs, Quicken checks that history. It finds the 6-for-1 split and flags it as “missing.” In plain English, it’s thinking: “I see a 6-for-1 split listed for BYDDF and the user hasn’t accepted it.” But BYDDF never had a 6-for-1 split. The alert is being triggered by incorrect historical data, not by a missing transaction.

The problem is in the stored data history itself. The incorrect 6-for-1 split needs to be removed from BYDDF’s historical record by the data team or a programmer. It isn’t something that can be resolved through Community troubleshooting steps, which is why I called support and a ticket was opened.

I understand there may not be anything further that can be done at the Community level. Since my ticket has been open for eight months, I would greatly appreciate any assistance in getting it in front of the appropriate team for review. Until the incorrect 6-for-1 split is removed from BYDDF’s historical data, the “Stock Splits May Be Missing” alert will continue forever.

Validation reports also show that Tax Splits "might be missing." Similar to TexMike reports, some are not really splits.

Thank you for letting us know you're seeing something similar. Please clarify what you mean by "Validation reports also show that Tax Splits 'might be missing.'" Is it referring to a security that Quicken thinks had a stock split, or is this a different kind of split?

Validation report on 03/01/26 listed three different securities in which "Quicken has found 1 stock split(s) for account "XXXX," security = "YYYYY," on MM/DD/YYYY that might be missing." These splits happened 11/17/25, 12/23/25 and 02/19/26. The downloads from Fidelity 'Added' shares instead of splits. Before change of OSU to ECW+ during '25, it looks like splits got downloaded and entered as intended, instead of the new, current way that just adds shares without price adjustment generally associated with stock splits. So, earlier Validation reports did not need to flag missing splits since such they got entered as splits instead of new method where new shares now get 'Added.'

BTW, that same validation report showed several other 'missing splits' from between 1990-2003. Those are long gone from portfolio yet, like original poster stated, they'll be on report forever.
