Those instructions are for Quicken for Windows. You won't find those options in Quicken for Mac.
When you say the core position is missing, do you mean it's not showing up as a security, but is reflecting in the cash balance, or do you mean it's not showing up at all?
Are there any placeholders, duplicate transactions, or missing transactions that may be causing the negative cash balance?

Yes, In 5 of my Fidelity accounts the core Money Market position is missing. For example, FZFXX is missing from several accounts. Also there is negative cash in a couple accounts, which is inaccurate.
