Connection status window not updating number of all transaction downloaded
Connection status window displays the quantity of some of the transactions downloaded and displays 0 (zero) for others. New transactions have blue dots but not all are reflected in totals on Connection status window. Started happening in the last few weeks (upgraded to latest Quicken release). May be related to one of the accounts (Venmo) requiring 2 factor security validation. Those accounts updated BEFORE the 2 factor pop up seem to be reflected in the Connection status totals but cannot confirm that relationship…just a guess at this point.
Mac OS 26.3.1, Quicken Classic Deluxe v8.5.1 (up to date with fixes/upgrades).

Hello @vpswede,
Thank you for letting us know you're seeing this issue. To help troubleshoot, please provide more information:
- Do you recall more specifically when you first noticed the issue?
- Did this behavior start immediately after a program update?
- Have you closed and reopened Quicken since this issue began?
- Have you restarted your computer since the problem started?
- Are they always the same financial institutions that show 0, even though transactions are downloaded?
- Which financial institutions is this happening with?
I look forward to your reply!

Kristina,
- The problem started in mid February I believe, I don't think it first occurred after a Q software update.
- Quicken has been opened and closed numerous times as well as restarted my MacBook Pro (updated to 26.3.1 a week ago…the problem occurred before that update)
- Can't determine if it's account specific as I download accounts daily and not all accounts have new transactions on any given day.
- I believe that it began when I enabled multi factor security on my Venmo account.
- Question: Can you tell me how the download function sequences the accounts to be accessed? For example is the Venmo account always sequenced in the same order with each download process?
- Attaching another screen print of the connection screen. The screen indicates 5 new transactions for E*Trade when there are 3 other accounts that received new transactions that are NOT included in the total. It like the new transaction counter gets reset to 0 before the process completes.

Meanwhile, I'm going to try to disable multi factor security on Venmo and retest.

Thank you for your reply,
If disabling the multi-factor authentication on Venmo doesn't correct the issue, I recommend that you try uninstalling and reinstalling Quicken. To do that, first, backup your Quicken file. Then, follow these steps from our article on uninstalling Quicken:
Uninstalling Quicken for Mac is an easy, two-step process:
- Locate Quicken in your Application folder.
- Drag the Quicken icon into the trash.
Once Quicken is moved to the Trash folder, the uninstall is complete.
Once the program is uninstalled, please follow these instructions from our article on downloading and reinstalling Quicken:
Installing Quicken
- Download Quicken. You can follow this link to begin quicken.com/download.
- When installing the Subscription Release of Quicken, simply double-click the icon that appears in the install prompt:
- If prompted, enter your Mac administrator's account name and password.
- Double-click the Quicken icon in your Applications folder to launch the program.
If you purchased Quicken from a retail store, you will need to enter your activation code, which can be found inside the box or on your purchase confirmation email.
If you purchased from the Quicken.com website, you’ll only need your Quicken ID (email address) and password.
For more information on activating Quicken, click here.
Please let me know how it goes!

Bypassing the Venmo multi factor security check did the trick. HOWEVER, do you think bypassing security features are a fix? I don't…but I'm wary of my system being breached by bad actors. The interruption seems to have caused a reset for the new downloaded transaction counters (total and per each account).

I will also back up my Quicken file, Uninstall, Reinstall and test further. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Thank you for the follow-up,
It's interesting that disabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) effectively prevents the issue. I agree that it's not a viable workaround, since MFA provides a necessary layer of security.
If uninstalling and reinstalling does not correct the issue, please let me know!

The most recent test was evaluated by a few accounts with downloaded new transactions today. I will forgo downloading for a few days to get a larger "batch" of new transactions from more of my download enabled accounts. In other words, the postulated "turning off MFA" for Venmo needs more testing. To be continued…
