Fidelity Transaction Download Error - Converting Quicken Account to Simple Tracking

Today I experienced Fidelity investment download that is converting my Fidelity accounts that have transactions to the simple tracking method. What is going on with Fidelity downloads? This has to be a Quicken bug. I see the downloads come in and then Quicken converts to simple tracking which is completely worthless function. I wish they would remove it. Is there anyone having this issue and is there a fix for it. Just started happening today. Currently manually updating the Fidelity transactions which defeats the point of using Quicken.

It's easy to convert back to Complete tracking, just click TOOLS, Account List and EDIT next to the particular account.

You choice of tracking method is on that dialog.

AND, "simple tracking" my be useless to you, but others (particularly those who have an investment manager) find it beneficial.

Thanks for responding. I know how to convert back but none of my accounts ever selected that method. What I found is that Quicken arbitrarily checked off the box in preferences >Investments to "default to simple investing for new accounts" today. I never added any new accounts. It applied this to existing accounts that had downloads come in. I found this and unchecked this box and the downloads started coming in. Unfortunately, it prompted the downloads of over 1200 transactions in one of my accounts that are already recorded and cleared. Is there a way to do a mass delete of these duplicated downloaded transactions that are sitting in downloaded transaction queue? That would be very helpful. I don't see a process for that in Quicken. Appreciate your advice.

Q sometimes switching accounts to Simple Investing is a known bug that's already being worked on.

Take a backup, before you start this … just in case. You might want to take intermediate backups also.

What might help with your mass delete is if you click on the CLR column header in the account which will cause the account to sort on that value.

Any older transactions are, hopefully, marked "R" and can be left alone. From there you can review the "c" transactions for any that are dated before the most recent "R", as they're probably dupes … but double-check that assumption.

Unfortunately, there's no "mass selection" in investment accounts.

Thanks for the recommendation. Most of the downloads were a match and then there were many near match. I sampled the matches for accuracy of the information and the ones I checked were correct. The near matches not so good so I deleted those and saved a copy before I accepted all the matched transactions. Fortunately that worked out. I wish they would provide a function to mass delete downloaded transactions. I could have used that many times in the past. Thanks again for your help.

There ARE mass selections & mass deletes in banking and card type accounts … just not in investing accounts because, under the covers, the way that they work is so much different than the banking and card accounts.
