Some transactions from UBS have wrong dates

Hello

I just discovered that a transaction that took place on Feb 2nd, is dated January 9th in my register.
How and why does that happen? I've seen other transactions have the wrong date as well.

Thank you

Do you download into that account? If so, from what bank? And, when you do TOOLS, Account List … what shows in the "Transaction Download" column?

Is the transaction, in Q, recorded as a transfer to another account in Q? If so, could you have changed the date on the other-side of the transaction … which would cause this transaction to change also.

And while a "earlier dated transaction" is a bit unusual, a "later dated transaction" is very easy to explain if you don't manually input a check when you write it, the recipient of the check might take a week to get to the bank.

    Thank you.

Yes, I download to the account from UBS.

This was a miscexp transaction for a foreign tax, so there wasn't any manual intervention

in what manner did it ‘take place’? Within investment accounts especially, a transaction can be back-dated. The transactions is effective January 9 but doesn’t show up until February 2. That big of a gap is not common but can happen.

Also, a foreign tax would normally apply to a dividend and a specific security. How do those match up on dates?

If you'd tell us the name of that foreign security (and the country) we can look into that also … and perhaps receive some clarity as to what's happening.

    Thank you

    It's TD Bank in Canada.

@q_lurker I'll answer your question when I fire up the laptop tonight.

@Nalgas Is the security TD Bank of Canada, or is your financial institution TD Bank of Canada, or both?

IF the security, did you buy it on a CDN exchange, or a US exchange (I THINK, it might be dually listed).

And, are you running QUS, or QCan? And which release of the product? This info is at HELP, About Quicken.

Given that this has to do with foreign taxes, I'd expect you're running QUS … but wanted to check.

    Let's clarify.

The account is at UBS in the US, and I own stock of TD bank. I'm running the latest release of QDeluxe.

TD paid a dividend of CAD$1.08 with a Record Date of 1/9/26 and a payment date of 1/31/26, but that was a Saturday so the next business day was 2/2/26.

Was that 1/9/26 transaction in your register manually input, or downloaded? I'm not familiar with CDN stock practices, but for US stocks, dividends aren't paid on the Record date … so it's not apparent where that txn came from.

Perhaps, was only the tax withholding on 1/9 with the remainder of the div on 2/2?

    ok, some answers

    It shows Yes, Direct Connect.

Was that 1/9/26 transaction in your register manually input, or downloaded? Downloaded.

THE UBS.com register shows both a dividend paid and foreign tax paid on Feb 2nd. But the date of payment was on Jan 31st according to a previous post of yours. In this world, trades often take 1 to 2 days to settle in the account; no pun. Ok.
But my Q register for this account showed the tax transaction back on 1/9 or 19 - I changed it to 2/2 so I don't accurately know what was there before.
