Quicken won't open backup file on new computer
I rebuilt my desktop to become Win11 compliant, also installing a solid state drive. Before rebuild I copied all of my file to a USB drive including the backups for 2 separate accounts in Quicken 2012. I started the subscription of Quicken Classic because the Q2012 would not load. My personal finance files loaded in the new version but Quicken from the second account, a small social organization for which I am the treasurer, cannot open the file. "Validate and Repair" cannot open it. Do I have a recourse?

Hi @Bob Wickline,
Thank you for reaching out to the Quicken Community!
I’d like to ask a few questions to better understand the issue:
- When you open the file, do you receive an error message, or does it go directly to the Validate and Repair process?
- If you are seeing an error message, it would be very helpful if you could share a screenshot of the error message.
- Are you trying to restore the backup from an external drive or from your local C: drive?
- If you're restoring the file from a USB drive, CD, or other external storage:
- Please copy the file to your computer’s hard drive.
- Right-click the copied file and select Properties.
- If the Read-only box is checked, uncheck it and click OK.
- If you're restoring the file from a USB drive, CD, or other external storage:
- Have you tried restoring from a different backup?
I look forward to your reply!
