Investing: stock/option quotes from Charles Schwab stopped updating [Edited]

My stock/option prices are no longer being updated from Schwab. Multiple accounts, all having the same issue. started over the weekend. Is anyone else having this problem? The prices are blank; only the cash account shows a dollar amount, though the stock share count is accurate. I see no Market value. I tried to manually add the closing price for APPL just now, and it just goes blank.

No issues with other account types, checking, or credit cards.

Created a new file, and stocks are ok. (No errors come up on the old file. ) But the new file only downloads 2 years of transactions. I'll lose all my history.

When did the problem start?
Where is your Quicken file located? To check, open Quicken and go to File. At the bottom of the menu under the recent files, the file with the check mark next to it is the one currently open. Please provide the full file path shown there.
Have you tried validating your file? If not, please save a backup first, and then follow these steps:
1. Click File.
2. Select Validate File.
3. Under Correct investing price history, select Repair.
4. Click OK.

After completing these steps, please update your quotes and check if the prices appear correctly.

did all of the above, no luck.

the file is on my laptop. It used to be on an external drive but I copied it back to c:.

The problem start last weekend (I think Friday or Sunday).

Is there a limit to the number of stocks? I have been trading for years, there are tons of old options and stocks, wondering if there are too many?

There is no limit on the number of stocks or options you can track in Quicken, so the issue is not related to the size of your investing history.

Since your newly created file is updating Schwab prices correctly, the issue appears to be specific to your original data file rather than the Schwab connection itself. This type of behavior, such as blank prices across accounts or manually entered prices disappearing, often indicates a problem with security mapping or possible data corruption within the file.

Here are a few steps you can try in your original file:

Go to Tools > Security List
Right-click the affected securities and verify they are still properly matched to Schwab online securities
If not, rematch them and run an update for quotes
If needed, reset the Schwab account connection (deactivate/reactivate) to rebuild links

If the issue started recently and you have a backup from before last weekend, restoring that backup would be the quickest way to confirm and resolve file-level corruption, especially since your new file is working normally.

I have reset/relinked the accounts. I do not see mismatched stocks/symbols. Isn't there any diagnostic tools Quicken can use to trace what is happening?!

Unfortunately, Quicken's tools are pretty limited once you get past Validate/Repair. There isn’t a deeper “trace” or logging tool available to pinpoint why price data is failing at the security level, especially when manual prices won’t stick.

If you haven’t already, you might consider restoring a backup from before the issue began to see if that resolves the problem.
Here’s how you can do that:

To restore a backup:

Go to File > View/Restore Backups....
Browse the Local and Online Backups tabs to find the backup file you want to restore. The Quicken backup file has the extension .QDF-Backup.
Select the file to restore and click Restore Backup.
Next, you will be given the option to overwrite the file you have open or to create a copy of the backup you're restoring.
- If you Create a copy, you will need to select a location to save the copy to and you will also need to give the copy a unique file name. After naming the file and selecting the location, click Save, then click Yes to open the restored file.
- What does it mean to overwrite a file?: Restoring a backup file replaces your current data with the data stored on the backup. Be aware that you'll lose any changes you made since the backup was created. If you want to preserve the current file, you must rename the current file or the file you are restoring. We recommend to avoid overwriting files.

@amxhoov You say you have a lot of old options and stocks. If you go to Help and hold down the Shift key while clicking on About Quicken, what are the numbers next to Securities/Max Ref?

If you go to Tools >Security List, is the Download Quotes box checked for the securities in question?

If you select a problem security and click on More > Price History, what do you see? If Quicken does not have a current quote for a security, it uses the most recent earlier quote in the table.
