Quicken crashes when try to make entry to one specific account

I use Quicken Home & Business 2014 Release R 1 (23.1.1.9) Canadian Edition on a Windows 11 Pro computer (25H2 26200.8246). When I try to make an entry into one of my accounts, Quicken crashes (error code 7108). If I try to re-start Quicken, it locks up and I get error code 7062. I have to delete the QDATA.QDF file and restore from a backup in order for Quicken to start again. I ran a validate and repair on the restored file, but had the same result when making an entry to that account. I then tried to make an entry into another account (which is no problem) and then move that entry to the problem account, and again Quicken crashes (error code 7059). The account in question has 26,261 entries, if that is of any significance.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Greg

You could make a copy of the file using the Quicken File menu Copy to see if fixes the issue. If I remember correctly, the Quicken 2014 file copy does it at the transaction level and not bit level which a Windows File Manager copy would do, so it essentially rebuilds the file.

Any way it goes, it can't hurt to try.

While you're trying to create a copy of your data file, please tell us more about this problem account register …

    • Is it a banking account register (checking, savings, etc.) or is it an investment register?
    • What type of new transaction are you trying to create?
    • How many transactions are in that register? (The Tools / Account List view should have an optional column, # of Transactions)
    • Please do this: Click Help / Shift-click About Quicken. This will give you a File Information view. Capture this view into a JPG or PNG file and attach it to your response.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I will try the file copy.

The problem account is a checking account. I was trying to enter a payment. The account has 26,261 transactions.
