I would like to schedule when I run Quicken at a specific time each night. The reason is that it takes time to run it. So why not run it each evening at a set time?
@Howard M. It's fine to submit this feature request. I'm just making you aware that there was an prior Idea thread for this exact functionality for several years, and the developers in 2023 marked it as "Not Planned". (Such threads are then archived so they aren't visible any longer.)
The developers don't outright reject very many feature requests, and we have no idea why they nixed this one. So while it may have an unlikely future, the developers may reconsider an idea if there is ongoing demand; anyone wanting to see this functionality added should add their vote above and comment below.
It had more votes (which are currently hidden), though not enough to motivate Quicken to pursue this in 2023, after being around for 7 yrs.
You can use Windows Task Scheduler to run QWin or any other program whenever you want.
Sure, and you could set up a launchd job on MacOS. But I don’t know how you would tell Quicken to update your accounts only when launched that way and not when run by the user.
As not a programmer but a person who uses a computer just like everyone else reading this. I suspect the reason for not having this feature lies in security. Having watched enough IT security videos mandated by my company to last a lifetime, I am aware that any opening will give ye ole hackers the necessary access to steal everything you have. I think for your own financial security, requiring an individual to instigate a session is smart, sometimes people got to be protected from themselves.
