Recently I have encountered many memorized payee list items that are erroneous as per the attachments and this one below. Note that in the example below, Recreation:Vacation is under Miscellaneous Unknown. But it belongs under Misty Creek as you can see from the amount.
Should I report this as a problem?
While working with the MPL, have you re-sorted the list from the original sort sequence? It's possible that, after changing sort sequence, the list is not displayed correctly for several MPL entries with different Payee names. Try sorting it by Payee, exit the MPL and reenter it. Work with it without changing sort sequence.
As far as reporting it as a bug is concerned … yes, please do contact Quicken Support on the phone during posted hours of operation and report this issue. Let them do a screen share session with you to review the situation on your computer, to determine the nature of the problem and to figure out how to fix it.
I have not sorted the list in many months. I had encountered that problem in the past but not recently. Interestingly, I did do a Find and Replace recently and most of this erroneous sort problem were subject of the find and replace
This may be similar. I suspect that, when making changes to register transactions which affect payee names while the MPL is open, the MPL may not be completely rebuilt (refreshed? redisplayed?) to correctly show the payee name as the first entry in a group of same-name MPL entries.
By all means, if you find weird things in Quicken, call it in.
I cleaned it up and will monitor. If it happens again I'll call it in
